Unable to checkout V-Ray GUI license

Modified on Wed, 16 Aug 2023 at 01:22 PM

If you receive this error message when you start SketchUp Pro with V-Ray installed and running, it means there is no connection between V-Ray and the V-Ray License Server or dongle. It could be one of these things:

- There is something wrong with the V-Ray License server;

- Your license has expired;

- You are logged in with the wrong details

- The installed V-Ray version does not match your license;

- Something is wrong with the dongle.

Run this test:

Launch your web browser;

In the address bar, type: http://localhost:30304/;

A number of results may occur:

1. Page cannot be found.

2. Page shows in big blue letters: "Enable Online licensing". The dongle menu shows an orange flashing square.

3. Page shows products but when you click on it, there are no licenses in the list.

4. Dongle menu shows a green square but the page shows: "0 licenses"

5. Online Licensing menu is enabled but the page shows: "0 Licenses"

How to solve:

1. Page cannot be found.

The license server is not enabled. Go to Start > Chaosgroup > Launch V-Ray License Server (Win) or Programs > Chaosgroup > Launch V-Ray License server (Mac).

After that, go to localhost:30304 again and check if it works now. If it doesn't work, download V-Ray again and reinstall V-Ray.

2. Page shows 'Enable online licensing'

If you have opted for online licensing: Click the text 'Enable online licensing' and enter your login details.

If you have opted for dongle licenses: Click the dongle menu and click 'Restart Dongle Service'. It should now look like this:

If this doesn't work, you may need to reinstall the wibu software. Go to the wibu website and download the wibu key software. Install as administrator and restart your computer.

If it still doesn't work, check if the dongle is recognized by the system as a USB device and then run the program WKCONFIG. Check whether the dongle is shown and has a code programmed. It should look like "250897:7758101".

If not, please contact your reseller.

3. Page shows products but when you click on it, there are no licenses in the list.

You probably had temporary licenses that have now expired. Contact your reseller to purchase new ones.

4. Dongle menu shows a green square but the page shows: "0 licenses".

Your dongle does not contain any licenses. Either it contained licenses that have now expired or have never contained licenses. In the latter case: find the RTU file you received from your reseller and double-click it to write the licenses to the dongle.

5. Online Licensing menu is enabled but the page shows: "0 Licenses".

Either your temporary licenses have expired or you have logged in with the wrong credentials. Click the 'online licensing' menu and choose 'disable'. Click on it again and now use the correct details to log in.
