Failed to Checkout a V-Ray for SketchUp license

Modified on Wed, 16 Aug 2023 at 01:26 PM

If you receive this error message when you start SketchUp Pro with V-Ray installed and running, it means there is no connection between V-Ray and the V-Ray License Server or dongle. It could be one of these things:

1. Something is wrong with the V-Ray License server

2. Your license has expired

3. You have logged in with the wrong details

4. The installed V-Ray version does not match your license

5. You are offline

 - Launch your web browser

Run this test:

- Type in the address bar: http://localhost:30304/

A number of results may occur:

1. Page cannot be found.

2. Page shows in big blue letters: "Sign in".

3. Page shows products but when you click on it, there are no licenses in the list.

4. Online Licensing menu is enabled but the page shows: "0 Licenses".

5. Licenses are found that do not exactly match the V-Ray version you have installed.

6. All licenses are in use

How to solve:

1. Page cannot be found.

The license server is not enabled.
Windows: Go to Start > Chaos > Launch V-Ray License Server
Or Mac: Programs > Chaos > Launch V-Ray License server.

After that, go to localhost:30304 again and check if it works now.
If it doesn't work, download the V-Ray license server again and reinstall it.

2. Page shows 'Sign in'

Click the text 'Sign in' and enter your login details.

3. Page shows products but when you click on it, there are no licenses in the list

You probably had temporary licenses that have now expired. Contact your reseller to purchase new ones.

4. Online Licensing menu is enabled but the page shows: "0 Licenses"

Either your temporary licenses have expired or you have logged in with the wrong credentials. Click the 'online licensing' menu and choose 'disable'. Click on it again and now use the correct details to log in.

5. The installed version does not match your license

When checking your license, pay attention to the Version number!

Version number Check that your version number matches the purchased version of V-Ray. Since the end of 2022, only version licenses are sold as new products, so you can always use the latest version. If you purchased a license before the end of 2022, your license may be for an older version of V-Ray than what you have installed.

6. All licenses are in use

If several people within one company use V-Ray licenses, there may be fewer licenses than people. If you often notice that all licenses have already been taken, consider purchasing additional licenses from your reseller.

You are offline

If you know in advance that you will be offline for some time, you can borrow your licenses for offline use. Open the Online licensing menu and click 'Use licenses offline'. Follow the wizard. Licenses can be taken offline for a maximum of 14 days.
