What is the difference between Premium and Enterprise?
The price. You pay less for the Enterprise version, but you must purchase at least 5 licenses.
I have a perpetual license, can I switch to an annual license of Chaos V-Ray Solo, Premium or Enterprise?
Sure. Which can! You get a discount if you switch from a perpetual license:
40% Discount on the first year if you upgrade from V-Ray version 5;
30% discount on the first year if you switch from V-Ray version Next;
20% Discount on the first year if you upgrade from V-Ray version 3.
I have a perpetual license, can I upgrade to version 6 perpetual?
Yes, but only to that specific V-Ray version (e.g. V-Ray 6 for 3ds Max). With an upgrade from V-Ray 5 you pay 50% of the full rate, from V-Ray Next and 3 you pay 100%. Ask your reseller for the current price for this.
If I upgrade my permanent V-Ray for SketchUp, will I automatically get V-Ray for the other host apps like 3ds Max and Rhino?
No, perpetual licenses only remain compatible with the host app it was purchased for.
Are permanent licenses still available new?
No Unfortunately not. These are only available to people who had a perpetual license in the past and do not wish to move to the new licensing model.
I have SketchUp Studio, do I also get the entire Chaos product range?
No Unfortunately not. SketchUp Studio only contains V-Ray for SketchUp.
Which version of V-Ray is in SketchUp Studio exactly?
SketchUp Studio contains a separate version: you only get access to V-Ray in SketchUp, but with a floating license.
I just need V-Ray for SketchUp, not the whole package. Should I perhaps buy SketchUp Studio?
Yes, then you pay less. Bonus: Scan Essentials!
What is the difference between Premium and Enterprise?
The price. You pay less for the Enterprise version, but you must purchase at least 5 licenses.
I have a 5-seat Enterprise but I want one more. Do I also pay the lower Enterprise amount for that extra?
Yes. However, the end date will be aligned with the existing one (pro rata).
I have 4 Premium licenses and want one more. Will I get those and all renewals for the Enterprise price from now on because I have a minimum of 5?
You buy the extra license for the Premium price, and the end date is aligned with the existing one (pro rata). If you renew all 5 licenses on the end date, you pay the Enterprise price.
I have a Solo, can I upgrade it to a Premium?
Yes, the end date remains the same and you then pay the price difference for the number of days that the license is still valid.
Are version 6 render nodes backward compatible?
Yes.
I just purchased a new perpetual license for V-Ray, will I get a free upgrade?
That is due to the 'grace period,' the period prior to the release date in which one receives a free upgrade. The grace period is mentioned in the release notes.
I read that I don't get free Cloud credits in the V-Ray Solo version. Can I purchase it separately?
Yes.
I have an annual V-Ray for 3ds Max license and want to renew. What price do I pay?
You basically pay the price of V-Ray Premium and also get access to all those features. If you do not want that, you must indicate yourself that you want to extend to Solo. You will then lose the floating option of your license, which will become machine-bound.
