This problem occurs when surfaces are (accidentally) 'inverted'. SU Podium then renders these textures inside the model. To fix this problem, you need to invert the surfaces.
But how do you know if a plane is accidentally reversed? There are a few ways:
SketchUp (Pro) has a handy tool that turns off all textures and only displays the monochrome color of faces. The front of a face is then always colored white and the back blue. This allows you to quickly see which faces are reversed, namely the blue ones. To reverse these faces, right-click on them and choose 'Reserve Face'. You still need to apply the texture to the white face.
The other method is to select the plane and go to Entity Info. Here you see two diamonds with previews. The left diamond is the front and the right diamond is the back. Which one has the texture applied to it?
