Chaos does not collect scenes, assets, materials, etc. This preference can be changed at any time from the interface. For more information  , see the  Chaos Telemetry page .

Anonymized Telemetry - Contains the most commonly used product features and/or parameter values. The data is not personally identifiable and is not tied to the user's individual account.

Personalized Telemetry - Contains the most commonly used product features and parameter values, but also contains personally identifiable information tied to an individual user's license. This helps Chaos customize and optimize the product for better personal use.

Advanced steps

If you want to customize your V-Ray installation, click the Advanced button at the beginning of the installation process and follow these steps.

The Advanced installation method is not recommended for beginner users. If you accidentally clicked Advanced, go back using the navigation buttons at the top right of the installation wizard.

1. Installation paths

Here you can specify the installation paths. Check if the default folders are correct.

Add firewall exceptions - Enabling this option will allow the default license port (TCP 30304) in the firewall. If you disable this option in this step, you will need to  manually add firewall exceptions later.

2. License

In this step, specify whether the Chaos License Server runs locally or on another machine.

If you select Remote Licensing, you will need to enter the IP address of your Chaos License Server in the Primary License Server field. Leave port 30304 unchanged. An Alternate License Server can be used for redundancy in the event the primary does not respond. The License Server will not be installed when the Remote option is selected.

When Local licensing is selected, the Chaos License Server will be installed along with V-Ray.

3. Chaos License Server

In this step, you can choose where you want to install the Chaos License Server.

Migrate data during installation - If this option is enabled, all settings made with older versions of the License Server, such as proxy settings, etc., will be transferred. If you disable this option, a clean installation of the License Server will be performed, resetting all customized settings from previous installations to their default values.

Add firewall exception - Allow the default license port (TCP 30304) in the firewall. If you disable this option in this step, you will need to manually add firewall exceptions later.

Activate your product

After installing V-Ray for Blender, load the add-on into Blender and log in with your Chaos account when prompted.

Steps:

When you open Blender, go to Edit > Preferences. This will open the Blender preferences window. Go to the Add-ons tab and look for V-Ray. Make sure to uncheck the Enabled Only option.

Enable the V-Ray For Blender plugin.

Proceed according to your license settings:

Solo and Cloud-based floating licenses:

If you have a Chaos Solo license plan or are connected to a Cloud-Based Floating License, follow these steps:

Using V-Ray requires an account with an active license. V-Ray for Blender will prompt you to log in if necessary. Select Sign In from this dialog and enter your Chaos account information on the Chaos Accounts Sign In web page.

Then select V-Ray as the Render Engine in the Render Properties.

Network floating licenses

If you are connecting to a Floating Chaos License that is set up to be shared within a network, follow these steps.

  • The administrator will need to give you the IP address of their machine. This will serve as your connection point to the Chaos license.
  • When installing the Chaos product, select Remote in the Licensing step. In the Primary License Server field, type the IP address of the server that your license administrator gave you. Add the port :30304 at the end. See the  Installation page and follow the steps for your Chaos installation.
  • You will be automatically connected to the active licenses after completing the installation.

Then select V-Ray as the rendering engine in the rendering properties.
