Live Bevel

Modified on Mon, 23 Sep at 10:57 AM

Live Bevel allows you to add a non-destructive bevel to a group or component.  All Bevel-able edges inside the group or component will be beveled.

A locked 'Bevelsurf' object will be created inside the group or component which can be edited indirectly by editing the proxy object.  The Bevelsurf object is a copy of the original proxy object but with bevels applied.

To edit the object, double-click it and the Live Bevel Dialog should open and the proxy should become visible.  As you edit the proxy object, the Bevelsurf updates automatically to reflect the changes.

When you are temporarily finished editing, but plan to make more changes later, simply close the group or component.  The Live Bevel dialog will close automatically.  This will allow you to continue editing the proxy later.  When you want to edit the object later, simply double-click it.  There is no need to undo / redo the the Live Bevel to toggle it.

Click the 'Commit' button if you want to permanently remove the proxy and edit the Bevelsurf object directly.

Click the 'Remove' button to remove the Live Bevel and revert back to the original geometry.

When the Live Bevel dialog is visible, you can choose to display the Bevel Surface only, Proxy only, or both at the same time.

To adjust the live bevel offset interactively, click the 'Edge Offset' button. You can also key-in a new offset in the text field or click the +/- buttons to adjust the offset size by approximately 1 screen pixel.

Live Bevel Segments can be modified as well by keying-in a new value or using the +/- buttons
