The image is slow and jerky

This is almost always due to the video card, which must be fast enough and support OpenGL very well.

First check the settings at:

Window > Preferences > OpenGL

Play around with the checkboxes here and see if this solves the problem.

Also download the latest drivers for the video card, preferably those from the chip manufacturer itself (nVidia or ATI for example and not Microsoft).

Also look critically at your file, are there many trees in it, is the shade always on, ..., these are delaying factors. A tree quickly has 10,000 elements such as lines and surfaces and that all has to be calculated, certainly with shade. Put 10 trees in a row and ... well.. for almost every system not to keep up!

Our advice is therefore to add details as late as possible in the process, or at least to place them on a separate layer so that you can easily turn them on/off. The same goes for the shadow.

Look under Window > Model Info > Statistics, how many lines and planes does your file contain? Can't it be a bit less? When drawing a tube, for example, using the Follow Me tool, a lot of planes can be created. You can also give the base circle for the tube a bit less segments, this quickly saves half the planes.

During a SketchUp Pro course you will learn how to use this effectively and build a good file.
