Named
A Named license and a Floating license provide exactly the same set of features—in this regard, Enscape remains the same regardless of which license type you have. A Named license (formerly Fixed) is a license tied to one machine at a time. You can easily transfer a fixed license by manually deactivating it on one computer and activating it on another.
Floating
Floating licenses can be shared among multiple users on a first-come, first-served basis and do not need to be assigned to an individual user.
These licenses are ideal for creating a license pool that can be used by multiple employees who do not require constant access to our products.
An Example
A pool of 10 floating licenses can be shared among 20 (or any number of) users. Any user can access the software at any time, as long as a license is available in the pool. The only limitation is the concurrent usage; in this case, a maximum of 10 users can use the software simultaneously. With Named licenses, the number of licenses must exactly match the number of users (in this example, 20 named licenses).
Sharing
Cloud Licensing (recommended): The administrator shares a pool of Floating licenses with the organization's users. When they log in with their Chaos account, they can use the floating licenses via the cloud from any location.
License Server: The administrator installs the Chaos License Server on a machine within the local network. Users must configure their Chaos product to connect to this License Server to access a license.
