Can I generate cutting lists and control CNC machines with CabN8?

Can we use your software to create cutting lists and production drawings for the factory?

With the CabN8 software—a very robust and comprehensive extension for SketchUp, used in combination with LayOut—you can generate cutting lists, bills of materials (BOM), and drawings. Additionally, it allows you to design using a very extensive library of adjustable cabinet shapes.

For a detailed overview of the various license types, please refer to our article: Which CabN8 license is right for me?

Furthermore, you can find a clear comparison chart of the three CabN8 versions, including their respective pricing, on our website: https://design8.com/producten/cabn8/ Here, you can place an order directly or, if you wish to test the functionalities first, request a trial version for both SketchUp and CabN8.

Note: If you require Excel integration for cutting lists, the ability to generate professional quotes, or CNC connectivity and production data, you must use a Windows computer and the full version of the software.

Can your software also control CNC machines (for future use)?

Various solutions for CNC are currently being developed. The key question for the customer is: what are your specific needs? We can export to Korpus and Imos, which are programs used to manage entire woodworking facilities.

Is it possible to import a customer's DWG drawing into SketchUp, edit it into a production drawing, and then export it back as a DWG? The customer wants to load the file into their own software to check the fit.

Yes, both are possible. The workflow is as follows:

  • Import: You load a 2D DWG file.
  • Model: You create a 3D model in SketchUp based on this DWG.
  • Export: From this 3D model, you can create a 2D or 3D DWG export.

Via File > Export, you can choose to export a 2D (view), 2D (section), or 3D file. Alternatively, you can use LayOut to create a scaled drawing on a paper space, which can also be exported to DWG or PDF.
