PlaceMaker v3

Modified on Fri, 25 Aug 2023 at 11:59 AM

I am new to PlaceMaker. Can I try it first?

Yes, you can request the 'pay-as-you-go' license for free on the official PlaceMaker website. This allows you to preview the OpenStreetMap imports. If you want to download, you need PlaceMaker Credits and/or a Subscription.

How do I purchase PlaceMaker?

You can purchase PlaceMaker through our channel of resellers. It is an annual subscription and with the first purchase you will receive 1000 credits for downloading various types of data.

Do I need Credits for all types of imports in version 3?

No, if you have a Subscription, all worldwide OpenStreetMap imports (roads, buildings, paths, rails, water and trees) are free. Import from other sources is available at a reduced rate. If you use the 'pay-as-you-go' version, you pay Credits for each type of import.

How do I upgrade my PlaceMaker v2 license to v3?

Download PlaceMaker v3 here and install it in your version of SketchUp via Window > Extensions Manager > Install Extension. Your license always supports the latest version.

Can I convert credits for PlaceMaker v2 to v3?

Yes, you can. After you have upgraded to version 3 (see question above), click on 'Manage Account' in the PlaceMaker dialog box. You can now log in to the PlaceMaker portal with your email address and license code. If you still have Mapbox or Nearmap credits left, you will see a green button 'Convert Credits' at the top right. Click on this and you will get the same amount of PlaceMaker credits to use in version 3.

Can I renew my Subscription or do I need to purchase a new one?

You can purchase a renewal for your current Subscription. A renewal is cheaper than purchasing a new Subscription.
The new expiration date of your Subscription will then be postponed by 1 year from the current expiration date.

Where do I buy more PlaceMaker credits?

These are currently only available through the developer. This is purchased via the PlaceMaker portal, accessible via the software (dialogue box > 'Manage Account').

Why did version 3 switch to a new credit system?

This system is universal and replaces the previously used DigitalGlobe, Mapbox and Nearmap credits. So there is only one type of credit that can be used for all PlaceMaker import types, making it easier for you to manage.
