If you, like most people, feel nervous about giving a presentation and public speaking in general, then hopefully LayOut's easy-to-use, interactive presentation features can help put you at ease.
To access LayOut's presentation capabilities, select View > Start Presentation or click the Start Presentation tool on the Standard toolbar. Your document will be displayed in full screen mode and you will have access to the following presentation capabilities:
- Navigate between pages in your presentation. You can use the arrow keys or the mouse to navigate between pages. See the following table for more information.
- Make annotations. When you are in presentation mode, the Freehand tool is active, so that while presenting your project you can draw attention to the most important features by drawing on the right side of the presentation page.
- Change the display of inserted SketchUp model entities. You can rotate, pan, zoom, and use other camera tools just as you can in the LayOut drawing area.
- Play Animations. If your SketchUp model contains an animation, you can play it within your LayOut presentation. Double-click the SketchUp model entity, click the model in context, and select 'View Animation' from the menu that appears.
Tip: If your LayOut document contains a page that you don't want to appear in your presentation, you can hide the page in the Pages panel.
Go to | Keyboard | Three Button Mouse | One Button Mouse |
Next page | Right arrow | Click | Click |
Previous page | Left arrow | Right click | Not possible |
First page | Arrow up | Not possible | Not possible |
Last page | Arrow down | Not possible | Not possible |
To exit presentation mode, press the Esc key. If you have made any notes, LayOut will ask you if you want to save them. If you click Yes to save your annotations, LayOut will save them in a new layer, with the date and time of your presentation.
Tip: If you are delivering your presentation on a system that uses multiple monitors, you can adjust your presentation preferences to specify which monitor you want to use. By default, LayOut displays your presentation on the monitor that contains the largest portion of your document window.
To change your presentation preferences, follow these steps:
- Select Edit > Preferences (Microsoft Windows) of LayOut > Preferences (Mac OS X).
- In the LayOut Preferences dialog box that appears, select Presentation from the left sidebar.
- From the available options, select one of the following:
- Same monitor as window: Your presentation appears on the same monitor that contains most of the LayOut document window. This option is the default.
- Primary Monitor: If your system uses multiple monitors, selecting this option tells LayOut to display the presentation on the monitor designated as the primary monitor. Check your system's display settings if you're not sure which monitor is the primary monitor.
- Secondary monitor: This setting tells LayOut to open presentation mode on your secondary monitor. On Microsoft Windows, this monitor may be referred to as your number 2 monitor in the Display settings. On Mac OS X, the second monitor is the display without the menu bar across the top.
4. When you are done, click Close.
