Will I lose data when renewing a V-Ray license after it has expired?

Renewing a V-Ray Premium license after it has expired does not cause data loss. Still, users should always keep local backups of important cloud renders and assets. Here are more details:

  • Expiration of a V-Ray Premium subscription does not delete any user data. Local project files, scenes, and assets remain unaffected, and renewing the subscription later does not trigger any data loss.
  • Chaos Cloud jobs and assets are generally retained after expiry, and account data is still accessible once the subscription is renewed.
  • However, Chaos clearly states in their EULA that users should maintain their own backups, as Chaos Cloud is not intended to serve as long-term archival storage. While there is no automatic wipe upon expiry, long periods of inactivity may not guarantee permanent retention.
  • The only items that may expire are subscription-linked entitlements, such as cloud credits—not user data.
