Extensions
Each version of SketchUp improves the implementation of extensions within SketchUp. However, that improvement sometimes also means that something needs to be changed in the code of an extension and that some extensions are not automatically compatible with the latest version of SketchUp.
Newly introduced in version 2025!
Transferring extensions from a previous version can now be done automatically using the Extension Migration extension
Read more about the Extension Migrator here
SketchUcation.com
The SketchUcation Plug-in store offers the possibility to update when you are logged in. Click on the gears at the top, there you can see which plug-ins you have previously downloaded and have them installed automatically.
Extension Warehouse
Extensions you downloaded in older versions through the Extension Warehouse can be reinstalled one by one through the extension warehouse (if you haven't already migrated them using the migration tool). Click on your profile menu at the top right and choose 'My Downloads' to see the list of all extensions you've ever downloaded, and click on Purchase History to retrieve purchased extensions.
Rendering Extensions:
Most render plugins have been updated to work with version 2025. In general, you need to update these plugins via an installation file from the creators themselves.
V Ray

You can request the demo version via our website.
SU Podium
Enscape
Enscape is not yet compatible with version 2025.
Settings
Mac
Shortcuts
Shortcuts should have been automatically copied from SketchUp Pro 2024 to SketchUp Pro 2025.
Did it not happen automatically? In ~Library/Application Support/SketchUp2025/SketchUp you will find a file called SharedPreferences.json that contains, among other things, the keyboard shortcuts. This same file also stores a large number of settings from the Preferences window. This file can be opened with a simple text editor and edited if necessary.
Templates
If all goes well, the template you used in SU2024 will also be used in SU2025.
You wil find the templates in this folder: /Users/[je gebruikersnaam]/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2025/SketchUp/Templates
The Templates folder should be automatically copied to the new installation. If for some reason this did not happen automatically, you can do this manually, and then choose the template from the start screen as the template you want to start with. (Give it a heart)
If the folder Templates does not exist, it means that no custom template has ever been saved via File>Save as template…
Toolbars
The positions and status of toolbars are stored in the PrivatePreferences.json file. Please note that this mainly concerns Extensions toolbars and that it is only useful to copy this file if the relevant extensions are installed. You can find this file in ~Library/Application Support/SketchUp201x/SketchUp
Windows
Shortcuts
Shortcuts should have been automatically copied from SketchUp Pro 2024 to SketchUp Pro 2025.
Did it not happen automatically? Then open SketchUp Pro 2024, go to Window > Preferences > Shortcuts, and click the "Export..." button. Save the data file where you can find it. Then open SketchUp Pro 2025, go to Window > Preferences > Shortcuts, click the "Import..." button, and find the file you saved in the previous step.
Templates
If all goes well, the template you used in SketchUp 2024 will also be used in SketchUp 2025.
The custom templates from version 2024 should be automatically copied to C:\Program Files\SketchUp\SketchUp 2025\Resources\en-US\Templates. If this did not happen automatically, you can do it manually yourself. You can then choose the template via Window > Preferences > Templates as the template you want to start with, or give it a heart in the welcome window.
Toolbars
The positions and status of toolbars are stored in the file PrivatePreferences.json. Please note that this includes Extensions toolbars and that it is only useful to copy this file if relevant extensions are installed. You can find this file in C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local\SketchUp\SketchUp 2025\SketchUp
Materials
Mac
Copy your self-created materials folder from the 2024 version to /Users/[je gebruikersnaam]/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2025/SketchUp/Materials if this was not done automatically.
Version 2025 introduces a new materials library with materials of higher quality than those in older versions. Do you still miss your old standard SketchUp materials? Then you can find them in ~Library/Application Support/SketchUp2024/SketchUp/Materials
Windows
If necessary, add the folders in which you store your materials to your favorites again via the materials window: Window > Materials > arrow on the right side > Add collection to favorites…
Or copy your materials folders to the default folder: C:\Users\[je gebruikersnaam]\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2025\SketchUp\Materials\

Components
Mac
The list of favorite component folders in SU2025 is automatically inherited from the list of favorites in SU2024.
If this was not automatically inherited during the installation, point to the folders again via the Details menu in the components window: Window > Components > arrow on the right > Open a local collection… This window automatically also checks the option 'Add to favorites ', so you don't have to look for the folder yourself next time.
Windows
The list of favorite component folders in SU2025 is automatically inherited from the list of favorites in SU2024.
If this was not automatically inherited during the installation, remap the folders via the Details menu in the components window: Window > Components > > Open or create a local collection…
Then add the folder you opened to favorites so you don't have to look for it again next time: Window > Components >Add to favorites…
